have recently invested in a revolutionary piece of diagnostic equipment - A TOPCON 3D OCT
It can detect a number of common eye conditions, such as GLAUCOMA, age related macular degeneration (AMD) and Diabetic Retinopathy, after a routine eye test.
What is 3D OCT?
This piece of equiptment is called a 3D OCT (Ocular Coherence Tomography) system. It is an advanced eye scan for people of all ages.
Similar to ultrasound, this non-invasive technique utilises light waves to scan the different reflectivity of the eye surfaces to build up a 3D image.
It uses light rather than sound waves to reveal the many layers that make up the back of the eye.
This particular 3D OCT unit captures a digital photograph of the inner surface of the eye at the same time, so that areas of concern identified by the scan can be cross referenced with the classic view of the back of the eye that your optometrist sees.
Using this machine, your optometrist can more confidently diagnose, manage or refer you to an Ophthalmologist for further treatment, should this be required.
For the majority of patients, 3D OCT provides significant reassurance that the deeper layers o f your eyes are healthy.

To aid diagnosis in conjunction with your Eye-Test, we ask for a small fee of £25.00 as this procedure isn't available under the NHS, but the benefits are obvious.
