DRY EYES affect one in four people in the UK and are particularly common in those over 50 years. Dry eyes are caused by reduced or poor quality tears.
The International Dry Eye Workshops (DEWS II) recommends your optometrist discusses your symptoms/or gives you a questionnaire to complete prior to your appointment.
Symptoms for Dry Eyes include:
You may be more at risk of Dry Eyes with increased VDU use, smoking and certain health conditions. It can also be associated with a dry mouth as with Sjogren’s syndrome. You need to advise your optometrist of any medication or health conditions.
Eyewise Optometrists will aim to identify your contributing factors and help you manage your symptoms.
You will be given a personalised treatment plan with a review after approximately 1 month and as necessary if symptoms change thereafter.
If further investigation of tear quality and quantity are required, it falls outside the scope of an NHS eye test and our specialist diagnostic equipment will be supplementary. There will be a private fee attached (from£40.00) for Blephex treatment. Here's where you can enter in text. Feel free to edit, move, delete or add a different page element.
